Osborne will be
available for only six matches this summer due to Australia
competing for the Ashes in England this summer, but will play a
key role for Sussex in two Royal London Women’s One-Day Cup
matches and four NatWest Women’s County T20 games, including the
fixtures at Arundel Castle against Kent and Middlesex.
25 year-old Osborne
burst onto the Australian domestic scene in 2008/09 and topped the
wicket-taking aggregates in her debut season with NSW Lend Lease
Breakers. She was then called up to the Australian squad in 2009
where she made her debut against New Zealand.
In her third match
for her country, she claimed 3 for 32 with her off-spin and showed
she was strong enough to secure her place in the 2009 ICC Women’s
World Cup Squad.
Osborne has been a
regular in the Australian side since 2009, playing in all three
formats of the game. She has appeared 105 times for Australia, and
was a member of the squad that won the T20 World Cup and the ICC
Women’s World Cup in India in 2013.
She will also be
playing three matches for Horsham Women in the Southern Premier
League whilst she is over here.
Director of Women’s
Cricket at Sussex Charlotte Burton said, “Having an experienced
International player such as Erin will be great for Sussex, even
if it is only for a few matches.
“Erin will bring a
lot to the side and will play an important part in our pursuit of
winning the One-Day Cup and T20 competitions this season. We are
looking forward to her arrival and joining the Sussex Family.”
